This is where we came up with the name for our site.  Our license plate being from South Carolina says DogSled. A dogsled is a RARE site in SC except at our place.

Mission and Goals

This site is always under construction. Please bear with us.  The newest material is in red and yellow.

This site was put together to tell about the Siberian Husky dogs that we have gathered from shelters, pounds, rescues, and off the streets of the South East US.  These dogs DO NOT come from racing bloodlines as far as we know.  In fact we know very little about many of these dog’s background.  We have taken these dogs and done behavioral training with them then we have trained them for running and pulling sleds, carts and scooters.  You can read and see what we are doing in our Training Journal.  In the process of building a team we have also taken many Huskies from shelters and have started our own rescue.  Our rescue Maqwa’s Paw Print Husky Rescue is on Petfinder.com and we adopt out these dogs on the Rescue’s website.  Many dogs are turned in to shelters, pounds and rescues because of behavioral issues.  The bad behavior starts in the house and the dog gets put outside on a chain or in a kennel. The owners are not bad people they just are not trained to deal with such an intelligent, high energy dog.  In order to support our rescue dogs, and to help prevent dogs from coming to our rescue in the first place we have started Appalachian Mushing  Supplies.  Our desire with the mushing supplies is to make the equipment needed to help an owner take their dog off the chain or out of the kennel and get out and exercise and have fun with the dog.  At the same time the owner is having so much fun they forget they are exercising too.  It does not have to be a Siberian Husky to enjoy sledding, carting or scootering.  It just takes a little training.  We help at training the owner and the dogs for these activities.  Our belief is that a tired dog is a happy dog and makes for a happy owner.  We find that behavioral problems greatly subside when the dog gets adequate exercise.
